Design Documentation
Parade Leader Orientation (NWA Pride)
This design document summarizes the understandings and consensus goals that were reached in discussions with key stakeholders.
SME input and action analysis led to a set of proposed learning objectives and an initial content outline, which was refined over several iterations with the project sponsor. Those are memorialized here along with the proposed assessment plan.
The design document was presented to the project sponsor for feedback, revision, approval, and sign-off and served as the core reference throughout development to avoid scope creep.
Curb-Side Recycling (Fayetteville Recycling Collection)
Building from a map of key actions to avoid commonly observed mistakes sorting recyclables, this design document establishes the detailed content outline proposed to help customers to fill those skills gaps and improve system efficiency.
A variety of appropriate interactions were specifically identified to help learners build and evaluate specific skills in identifying categories of recyclable materials.
An L2 assessment plan ensures alignment of immediate learning with the common errors, while the L3 assessment plan identifies existing and new metrics that collections staff can review at regular intervals to assess program effectiveness and guide updates and/or deployment to wider audiences.
Storyboard Planning
Parade Leader Orientation (NWA Pride)
This development-ready storyboard facilitated client feedback on content, layout, and presentation prior to development.
With a large volume of granular content points, maintaining engagement was key. The storyboard creation process focused on including a wide variety of learner interaction strategies, punctuated at appropriate intervals with video breaks, to keep the presentation fresh to the end of the course.
Decisions early on in the organizer's duties have impacts that aren't realized until later in the process. The storyboard supports developers in planning the flow and variable logic necessary to execute these on-going scenarios, connecting critical decision points to the consequences at key moments.
All on-screen text and voice-over narration are scripted along with detailed interaction and navigation requirements. The storyboard also includes complete assessment questions, menu configurations, and overall visual theme.
